2008
Training Schedule:
January 13, 2008 Disney Marathon
Remainder of January and February I am going to concentrate
on rest and
overall fitness.
I will get back to cycling (in the basement on my trainer until it gets
warmer), do strength training 2-3 days per week. and do just a little
light running and walking.
This is a good plan having put in a lot of work into training for the
marathon because the body needs a chance to regnerate.
In mid-Feb to March I will ramp up the cycling so as to be ready for
the cycling season and be able to ride with my friends T/TH/Sat in the
mornings.
I am still formulating my plans for the racing season 2008. I would
still like to break five hours in the marathon, so I hope to do another
one in October when the weather is cooler. I would also like to do some
more cycling and complete another century ride. One of my other goals is
to complete a 10K in under 60 minutes.
These are not the most exciting goals on the planet, but they are where
I am starting this year. I'll update you as the year progresses.
Here's to a great 2008!
June: 10K
August: Bike Psycho Century

Coal
City Psycho Ride: century (100 miler) August – which
is a ride along the scenic Illinois River. I hope to complete
my first century ride. But I may need to wait until later in
the fall, because I am going on an cycling trip to Italy in
Sept. that I don’t want to be too tired for!

Ciclismo
Classico: Biking tour of Tuscany where I will be riding
30 to 50 miles per day with my good buddy Nicole, co-author
of The Hauser Diet book. Okay, we let our significant others
come along on this trip too, but hey, this is our reward for
completing that book! What more could you ask for—food,
friends, beautiful scenery, and cycling! WOW! I hope that this
is not only a wonderful cycling trip, but also one filled with “good
eats” as
Alton Brown says!

Miami
Man ½ Ironman
Duathlon Relay: Team PABA will be
competing November 11—a newly formed
team of Marion Hauser and Rob Donovan. I
will be doing the 56 mile bike leg and Rob
will run 1 mile, then a half marathon after
I complete the bike.

Marathon: January 13, 2008 My big event
this year is to complete my fourth 26.2 mile marathon in under
5 hours. I have been getting back into running after having
taken a hiatus last year in caring for my mom with cancer.
I hope to be able to do it! I am training with two great friends—Evette
Zurbriggen and Christine Donovan who are both great athletes
in their own right. We call ourselves the “Sanibel Somethings”—they
live in Sanibel, FL—and this is where we met. It’s
been great training with these ladies. They are quite an inspiration
and have helped me improve my running tremendously. I hope to
be able to cross the finish line together in 4 hours something!
Now that will be an accomplishment!
